Cinematic Mode, recorded live

This demo was recorded with TabCaster itself. The zoom follows every click automatically — no editing, no cloud, straight out of the browser.

Auto-zoom, cursor halo, and click ripples — rendered locally while recording. Nothing leaves your device.

Everything You Need to Record

Screen recording built for privacy. Record your tab or desktop, blur sensitive content, and save locally — no setup required.

Tab and desktop recording

Record any browser tab or your full screen. Switch sources before you start — no app switching, no audio routing setup.

Cinematic Mode — auto-zoom on clicks

Turn a plain capture into a produced-looking demo with zero editing. The view smoothly zooms in on every click, a soft halo follows your cursor, and click ripples show viewers exactly where the action is — all rendered locally while you record.

Trim & GIF export built in

A preview opens after every recording: replay it, cut the fumbled start and end, and save a clean copy. Pro exports the selected range as a GIF for bug reports, pull requests, and docs — encoded locally, nothing uploaded.

Privacy blur built in

Click any element to blur it before recording. Auto Blur detects emails, passwords, credit cards, SSNs, API keys, and more — baked into the video, not added after.

No cloud. No account.

Recordings are processed entirely in your browser and saved straight to your Downloads folder. Nothing is sent to a server.

MP4 and WebM export

Record to MP4 (H.264) for universal compatibility or WebM (VP9) for smaller files. The extension picks the best codec your browser supports.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does TabCaster upload my recordings anywhere?
No. All recording is processed locally in your browser using the Web MediaRecorder API. The video is saved directly to your device and never sent to any server.
Do I need an account to use TabCaster?
No account is needed to record. An email is only required if you purchase Pro (via Stripe) or restore a Pro license on a new device.
What video formats can I record in?
TabCaster supports WebM (VP9 codec, default) and MP4 (H.264). The extension automatically selects the best supported codec for your browser.
What is the difference between Free and Pro?
Free includes unlimited tab and desktop recording, Cinematic Mode auto-zoom, trim in the post-recording preview, WebM and MP4 export, microphone audio, pause/resume, manual blur, and auto-blur for emails and passwords — free recordings carry a small TabCaster watermark. Pro removes the watermark (or replaces it with your own brand text), adds GIF export and custom effect colors, unlocks 25 Mbps and 50 Mbps video quality, and adds advanced auto-blur for credit cards, SSNs, phone numbers, IP addresses, and API keys. Pro is a one-time $29 payment with a 7-day free trial.
Is there a free trial for Pro?
Yes. After any recording, the preview page offers a 7-day free trial — enter your email and every Pro feature unlocks for a week. No card required for the trial; if you like it, Pro is a single $29 payment, not a subscription.
Can I trim a recording or export a GIF?
Yes. A preview page opens after each recording (you can turn this off in Settings). Trimming the start and end and saving a clean copy is free. Pro can export the selected range as a GIF — up to 30 seconds, encoded entirely in your browser, ideal for bug reports and pull requests.
Will an extension update interrupt my recording?
No. TabCaster defers extension updates while a recording is running and applies them only after your video is safely saved to Downloads. Your settings are preserved across updates as well.
What is Cinematic Mode?
Cinematic Mode is an optional toggle for tab recordings that makes the video automatically zoom in on your clicks, highlights your cursor with a soft halo, and animates a ripple on each click — so a plain screen capture looks like a produced demo with no editing. Like everything in TabCaster, the effects are rendered locally while you record; nothing leaves your device.
How does the privacy blur work?
Click the Blur button in the popup, then click any element on the page to blur it. The blur is applied using CSS before the screen capture begins, so it is baked into the recorded video. Auto Blur can also scan the page automatically for sensitive data patterns and blur them without any clicks.
Is Pro a subscription?
No. Pro is a one-time $29 payment. You pay once and keep Pro on that Chrome profile forever. Your license is tied to your email and can be restored on any device from the Settings page.
Can I record my microphone?
Yes. Toggle the microphone switch in the popup before starting. Tab audio and microphone audio are both captured and mixed into the recording.
Is there a recording time limit?
TabCaster does not impose a recording time limit. Available memory, storage, and browser behavior can affect very long recordings.

Record your tab or screen. Stays on your device.

No cloud. No account. No watermark on Free. Install and start recording in seconds.
